The fundamental principle for caring for bamboo garments is to avoid heat and excessive agitation, as these can shrink and damage the delicate fibers.
1. Washing: Always use cold or lukewarm water with a delicate or gentle wash cycle. Opt for a mild detergent (preferably liquid). It is crucial to avoid bleach and fabric softeners, as the latter leave residues that negate the natural softness and breathability of bamboo.
2. Drying: The best option is air drying, either by hanging or laying the garment flat, but away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. If you must use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting or the air dry cycle (no heat). To minimize wrinkles and shrinkage, remove the garment while it is still slightly damp and allow it to finish air drying.
3. Ironing: Generally, it's not necessary, as bamboo fabrics are wrinkle-resistant. If you do need to iron, do so at a low temperature and preferably inside out to protect the surface.
A bonus tip! Turn your pajamas inside out before washing to protect the colors and prints and reduce pilling.
